HESI Entrance Exam

About HESI

HESI is a comprehensive, computer-adaptive testing program that quickly and accurately assesses students' skill levels in reading, mathematics and critical thinking. Please allow up to three hours to take the test. You will receive your scores immediately upon completion of the test. HESI results are good for two years from test date. The cost of the exam is $40.00.

WHO IS REQUIRED TO TEST

If you are applying for any of our full time Allied Health Programs (Dental Assisting, Medical Assistant, Practical Nursing and Surgical Technology) you will need to take the HESI exam. If you have attended college before, even if you possess a degree you will still be required to take and pass the exam to apply into these programs.

How to Create a Student Account for the HESI Exam

Technology Foundations/Technical College Learning Support

All new students must complete the WIN Learning Academic Skills Courseware Placement Tests to assess their current skill levels in reading, math, and data, unless otherwise informed exempted or not required by technology foundation instructor. The results of these placement tests will determine if students need to attend a Technology Foundation class to improve math, data, and/or reading skills. Once a student has mastered the course competencies at the skill level set by their core instructor, as outlined by the Technology Foundation instructor, the student will complete the course. The Technology Foundation is taken and completed within the first entering trimester for new students.

Credit for Previous Training/Work Experience

Training completed in high school or at technical institutes, colleges and other training situations, such as business, industry, and the military, will be evaluated toward completion requirements where applicable. In order to request credit for previous training, students may be asked to provide one or more of the following:

  • Testing: The program instructor may request that the student demonstrate proficiency through oral or written exams, and/or skill performance.
  • Transcripts: The program instructor will review the student’s official educational transcripts and grant credit for previous coursework as appropriate.

Prior Credit Evaluation Process

When a student requests credit for prior education/training or experiences, a few sources of prior credit may be reviewed by instructors for recommendation for the student to receive credit towards a course in a program of study offered by the college.
