Stories @ TCAT

Congratulations!

William (Bill) Benson was selected as an ideal candidate for the 2016 Southeastern Construction Owners & Associates Roundtable (SCOAR) Skilled trades Scholarship based on his application. This scholarship was established to be the catalyst for recruiting the next generation of craft professionals. Bill was awarded a one-time $1,000 scholarship toward college/postsecondary training.

Bill has made the most of his time at TCAT Knoxville. He won a Silver medal in April 2016 at the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference in Employment Application Process. He also serves in leadership at school being elected as Treasurer for our Student Government Association.

Bill chose technical education because, “Higher education is a great thing but it doesn't always prepare you for a career. I have come to understand the supreme importance of having a skill. Possessing a marketable skill that is applied with hard work can lead to a fulfilling, enjoyable and profitable career almost guaranteeing employment for life. Technical education is the door that when opened can open up a world of possibilities.”
