Abby a Cosmetology student at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Knoxville was selected as the campus Outstanding Student of the Year, through the process of two panel interviews and giving a speech. All TCAT campuses OSY students competed against each other in regionals. Abby competed in the regional event on January 19, 2017 against eight other competitors and was selected as a regional finalist. She competed as one of nine competitors in the state finals on April 10, 2017 where she was presented with a Microsoft Surface laptop and a plaque at the VIP Awards Banquet at McKenzie Arena for the SkillsUSA opening ceremony event where she won a silver medal in the job interviewing competition in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
