Tennessee College of Applied Technology’s Cosmetology Instructor Rebecca (Becky) Russell (pictured above) has been selected as a finalist for the 2019 American Technical Education Association Instructor of the Year Award! The winner will be announced at the 2019 ATEA National Conference in Indianapolis, IN, on Wednesday, April 3, 2019

Becky states that her career success started as the dream of a small child sweeping hair in my aunt’s salon. She knew somehow someday all she wanted to do was get to play in hair. In Cosmetology enough has never been enough. Becky wants to see it all, touch it all, and do it all. She study with great passion the history, current trends and the how and why of all things Cosmetology. Becky strives to understand and practice Cosmetology with great skill on a widely diverse clientele. She passionately and abundantly loves sharing her knowledge with all those who show enthusiasm for the industry. Becky seeks to bring recognition and respect to the field by leading a generation of professional, responsible and educated stylists. She pursues opportunities to give back in public service to her career peers and future generations of professionals.

Becky currently services on the State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners as a Board Member and Cosmetology Subject Matter Expert and Curriculum Reviewer and Examiner. Becky has also served as a SkillsUSA Cosmetology Competition Chair for Regional and State contests. She also works with the Knoxville Opera providing theatrical makeup and wigetry.
