General Admissions Requirements
Please complete the general admissions requirements before the application deadline listed above.
- Complete a TCAT Knoxville Application for your desired start term.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Use our school code 004025.
Program Admission Requirements
- Provide a copy of a valid driver's license.
- Provide a copy of a valid Class A permit.
- Complete a Department of Transportation Physical (DOT Physical) by a licensed medical examiner and provide a copy.
* To schedule a DOT physical, you may contact your primary care provider to schedule an appointment, but be sure you request a DOT physical since it is specific to the industry. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) form, called the Medical Examination Report for Commercial Driver Fitness Determination, is used for the DOT physical and evaluates if an individual is physically qualified to drive a motor vehicle. In some cases, a Skill Performance Evaluation (SPE) Examination may be required with the DOT physical. For more information, please refer to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration at www.fmcsa.dot.gov.
Contact the appropriate licensing agency in the U.S. States and territories where licensure is intended. This will enable you to obtain the most up-to-date information about licensure requirements. Our college has not made a determination on whether or not its curriculum meets the State educational requirements for licensure or certification for states outside of Tennessee.
