Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Adjunct Instructor

(Temporary, Part-Time; 2 positions available)

Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is accepting applications for two adjunct Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration instructors for the evening program.  These are both part-time positions working 15-20 hours per week in the evening at $25.00/hour.

**The hiring of this position is contingent upon the program securing sufficient class enrollment numbers.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Three years current work experience in all phases of industrial, residential, and commercial HVAC/R systems to include installation and service
  • EPA Universal Certification required,
  • Possess organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor
  • Demonstrated effective communication and organization skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with students, the public, and other employees
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Computer skills including general knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited HVAC/R technical program
  • Earned Associates Degree from an accredited institution
  • Knowledge of Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies and procedures
  • Skill in managing deadlines and working in a team-oriented environment
  • NATE Certification a plus
  • Willingness to continue education

Responsibilities

General Duties: 

  • Provide instruction to students in all areas of the HVAC program curriculum
  • Monitor, grade, and evaluate individual students’ progress
  • Maintain appropriate records and submit timely reports
  • Develop job placement opportunities for graduates
  • Maintain good public relations with business and industry
  • Develop and teach all phases of the HVAC curriculum
  • Recruit support from business and industry
  • Work in cooperation with TCAT Knoxville HVAC instructor team to provide an optimum training experience

Salary Range

$25 per hour
